About Tara
I’ve always been drawn to colour and jewellery and, thanks to my small dash of Indian heritage, I’ve been lucky enough to have a large collection of the most exquisite gold and gem stone vintage pieces that have been passed down over generations. These pieces which were crafted by skilled artists in India, Nepal and Kashmir all those years ago have always been part of my life and have inspired me to create.
Doutré Designs started out in my tiny home studio in Brisbane not so long ago. It was born from my need to get a bunch of designs out of my head and into tangible form. The result is wearable art that is truly unique, slowly made and boldly beautiful. I personally source all of the parts, design them myself, make each and every piece with my own hands. and run to the post office before school pick up to get them in the mail to you.
This current collection draws inspiration from holidays in the sun, faraway places, and vibrant memories stitched together from travels past…moments spent wandering mosaic-lined streets, chasing sunsets across golden coastlines, or sipping tea beneath terracotta rooftops. The colour gold plays a leading role; I love it for its warmth, luxuriousness and familiarity. Each featured item is either small batch or a one-off piece never to be repeated.
Thanks for taking a look. I hope you find something you love.

About the jewellery
Loom weaving is an ancient technique dating back thousands of years, used by cultures from the Andes to Anatolia to create intricate textiles and beadwork. On a bead loom, threads are stretched taut and the beads are stitched into place; each tiny one forming part of a story.
My woven bracelets are a labour of love. They start with a feeling or a colour palette or a pattern in my head. Sometimes the designs look great when I get them onto the page, sometimes they just don’t translate and I end up taking a different path. After the creative burst of designing, the construction process is repetitive and meditative. I estimate my larger pieces take more than 10 hours to complete. There are no shortcuts.
Each bracelet is made from tiny glass Miyuki seed beads. Miyuki beads are world-renowned for their exceptional uniformity, vibrant colours, and elegant finish. Originating from Japan, these seed beads are crafted with meticulous attention to detail, making them a favorite among artisans who value consistency and quality. Their perfectly shaped facets allow for beautifully aligned beadwork and they are ideal for intricate loom work and delicate designs.
